cobberson the 100 day project 2020

How is your 100 Day Project going? After narrowing down my project idea to making whatever I can using my existing supplies, the first 10 days went pretty well after an initial hiccup.

Day 1: I pulled an almost finished Valentine’s Day hat out of my knitting basket and finished it. I don’t love the hat (it’s a little big) but I’m happy I finished it, so that’s what counts, right?

Day 2: I attempted to use up two skeins of random yarn and started a new infinity scarf. It’s navy blue solid and this pink/ yellow splotchy yarn.  Not loving it. Not sure if my dislike is because the photo is so awful due to being shot in poor lighting.

Day 3: I decided after three days, I shouldn’t be feeling meh about the project already, so I cast on something new that I’m super excited about. I’ve always wanted to make something for myself in my very favorite color palette, which was inspired by Kathleen Hanna’s feminist sweater. I don’t have the patience to recreate the actual feminist sweater (maybe some day?) on tiny needles, so I came up with the next best thing, a striped top-down cardigan in worsted weight.

Pattern: Shapely Cardi by Stefanie Japel

Yarn: Loops & Threads Impeccable in Burgundy, Smoke, Gold, Cherry, and Lippy

Day 4-10: Plugging away at the sweater and I am loving it. The stripes look so cool, every other stripe is 4 rows burgundy, and the pattern is easy to follow and works up quickly.

After a few days, the sweater didn’t fit in the picture any more, so now it’s basically the same photo of stripes but the letter board caption changes 😀

I’ve tried my best to knit every single day, but it doesn’t always work out. Sometimes it’s because my day job needs more attention, other times it’s because I’m working on a quick extra project, like these sourdough starter tags. I’m pretty happy though with my progress so far. I can’t wait to finish this sweater, and then move on to either making a capsule wardrobe or making a small set of mini paintings.
