I totally forgot to post a photo of my son’s finished Bee scarf (aka Hufflepuff House Scarf).  He loves it!  He ended up wearing it around the house- I can’t wait until he’s old enough to finally watch the Harry Potter movies with me.

As far as scarves go, for its size, this is truly the fastest and easiest pattern.  You just knit a big tube in the round and then seal the ends with the fringe.  Totally mindless- you don’t have to pay attention to anything beyond counting a 20 row stripe pattern.  If you hate making scarves like me, this is the way to go.

The other project I was working on, the Magnolia Cafe cardigan, met a very untimely death.  After working about ten inches, I finally admitted to myself that the Lion Brand Fisherman’s Wool was complete and total junk.  It was so frustrating.  It’s been sitting in my stash forever, and I was hoping to finally use it up, but the quality was truly awful- very splitty and tons of knots throughout the skeins.  So in a fit of frustration, I just took the whole mess and tossed it in the trash.  What did I learn from all this?  Don’t waste your time using crap materials.  I think I’m just going to go through all the yarn I have packed up and get rid of all the junky stuff.  My kids will happily take it off my hands.

What projects are you working on this week?
