Hi, I’m Kym. I’ve been making things my entire life. The earliest memory I have of crafting something I wanted was recreating Penny’s computer book from the old Inspector Gadget cartoons. I think I was around 4 or 5 years old. That simple notebook with hand drawn buttons and screens became one of my very favorite toys, and I’ve been hooked on crafting ever since.
I earned a Fine Arts degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC, and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Getting to immerse yourself in the different classes, be surrounded with other people who loved creating as much as you do, and having the professors really push you to try new things in your work was incredibly exciting. Even though I majored in Fine Arts because I loved painting, I didn’t end up wanting to be a painter.
It wasn’t until I started law school a few years later that I got really into knitting, as a way to relax (and to knit myself a hooded sweatshirt style sweater I saw a girl wearing in the mall but couldn’t find anywhere. To this day, I am STILL meaning to get around to making that sweater!) and it became the huge part of my life it is now. I started my first knitting blog in 2005 and have been at it ever since.
I hope Cobberson + Company inspires you to get your hands dirty and make some new things. If there are any specific projects you’d like to see, I’d love to hear from you!
