Helpful tips for Halloween crafting with preschoolers if you’re short on time
If you are a regular reader here, you know how much we love a more hands off approach to arts and crafts and allowing kids the freedom to take their time and try to do all the steps themselves with minimal intervention. However, if you are using these crafts at a Halloween party or as a school project, you likely have limited time for the children to work. To avoid panic and maximize creative time, here are some time saving suggestions:
- Glue
Consider glue sticks, as they are easier for small hands to manage than liquid glue. The purple Elmer’s School Glue sticks are our favorite.

- Pre-cut Materials
To make the crafting process smoother, pre-cut materials like paper, felt, or fabric into the shapes needed for the project. This saves time and frustration and allows your preschooler to focus on decorating and assembling.
- Use Stickers and Stamps
Stickers and stamps are excellent tools for young children. They’re easy to handle and require less precision than drawing or cutting. Provide a variety of Halloween-themed stickers and stamps, and let your preschooler’s creativity run wild.
- Embrace Imperfection
Remember that preschoolers are still developing their fine motor skills, so their creations may not always look exactly as planned. Encourage their efforts and emphasize the process over the end result. Celebrate their unique creations, and don’t be afraid to get a little messy!
