Free printable: Self love wall art (8.5 x 11)
Amazon Prime recommended about a million sappy love stories to me this week. I started thinking about how so many rom-coms are about a couple that ends up falling in love after one of them has a huge makeover in order to impress the other. like She’s All That or The Breakfast Club. And then I remembered one of my favorite movies ever, Bridget Jones’ Diary, which had the ultimate don’t- go- changing moment, with this sweet and hilarious speech from Mark Darcy:
I don’t think you’re an idiot at all. I mean, there are elements of the ridiculous about you. Your mother’s pretty interesting. And you really are an appallingly bad public speaker. And, um, you tend to let whatever’s in your head come out of your mouth without much consideration of the consequences… But the thing is, um, what I’m trying to say, very inarticulately, is that, um, in fact, perhaps despite appearances, I like you, very much. Just as you are.
So I NEEDED to make this wall art because this quote needs to live in my house.
And on Valentine’s Day, when we are inundated with so many posts and images of people professing their love, citing how their person is just SO PERFECT in every epic way, maybe it’s me but I don’t want the pressure of being perfect. I just want to be loved for who I am, in all my awkwardness, when I’m talking too loud because I’m excited, constantly coming up with Lucy and Ethel level crazy schemes, you see where I’m going here. Just being me. And I’m better than just good enough. I’m pretty awesome. Just as I am.
